Chris Henry Another Product of Failing Society?

Posted on: April 4, 2008 8:43 am

The Bengal's Chris Henry has finally reached his goal. He was released from the Bengals the other day. This ONLY happened after numerous episodes with the law. Is he another product of our failing society? Does an individual like Chris get overlooked because of his talent on the field? Shouldn't someone have noticed his problems socially YEARS AGO? This is happening every day yet because someone can run, catch, or hit a ball many sad to say "look the other way". A very sad inditement on our society today!

Chris Henry Another Product of Failing Society?

I know where your coming from....however I have a different opinion on the matter.   The fact of the matter is this is a grown man, society hasnt let him down.....he's an NFL wide reciever, he owes it to himself as well as the kids that watch and imulate him...to be a role model. It is Chris Henry who has let society down.    These guys get paid to play a game, plain and simple. They arent saving anyones life, they arent teaching anyone anything of any value besides how to play football.  Did society let Michael Vick and Pudman Jones down? Absolutely not.  These are coherent individuals, grown men and college graduates (even if it was tv and vcr repair). They arent fourteen year olds throwing eggs on halloween.  They need to grow up and act like men, once again....plain and simple.

Chris Henry Another Product of Failing Society?

IF society is failing these young men (athletes), it's because flaws are overlooked due their exceptional athletic ability.  The disentigration of the minority family has been going on since Johnson's Great Society experiment that all but ensured the destruction of the family unit with regard to Black America.  The absentee father,  is more prevalent than ever before in minority households and what substitutes for that role model in many cases are gang bangers and thugs, that become these young men's role models in their formative years.   We are all responsible for our actions and putting this on society as a whole is a bit of a stretch.  This behavior begins in high school and continues on through college right to the pro's.  They are not held accountable for their actions and indisgressions and are worshipped because of the God given athletic gifts.

About Hey Celtics, Can you hear us?
We heard it as soon as the moves were made. The Celtics were going to collapse under the weight of the injury bug and the natural process called "aging" Well, you obviously are not listening to us in Boston.
